GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

She could leave. Instead she stands in the surf allowing the waves to wash the sand from beneath her hooves. The Prairie is all she knows. Her parents may be gone from this world, but there is still Larka. There are still her youngers siblings. There is still this place. That doesn't change the hole left in her heart. It doesn't change how angry she is that her parents left.

She used to think her sire was unbreakable - the man that fought wolves and won. Sure, he had limped since before she could remember, but didn't that make him all the more immortal? Or maybe fathers are immortal for all children... until they aren't.

Long ago though it was, Sitara still feels the pieces of her heart laying where they came apart when she finally had no choice but to believe Zevulun. Her father had died. She did not need to be told that he had died searching for her mother. And where was she? Perfectly fine in the Badlands.

She is past tears now, at least for the moment. The sea has swallowed all of them, and Sitara has run dry every river.

She could leave. Instead she blinks up at the lonely moon and feels a hollowness she doesn't believe will ever be filled again.
