TURNING MEN INTO monsters

Vadim’s skin twitched from the sting of her teeth, but the stallion couldn’t help but want to smile a bit broader by it. Despite being caught off guard, she hadn’t missed the opportunity for retaliation, just as she didn’t back down from him now as she stood glaring at him. Not quite the timid girl he believed her to be, when she had been hiding so well from him before and had fled just as quickly. There was much to say for her now standing her ground.

“Why, do you plan to keep me warm?” the stallion cannot help but quip in reply to her question. Vadim hardly found that would be the case, but he also hadn’t expected her to follow him just to make sure he was okay. “The Lagoon is my home, and that is where I will winter as I always have.” The answer was a bit sobering, as he stated aloud. Vadim was sure, as every mare he had met that was familiar with these islands, would grow bitter instantly and immediately be on her way. The golden and white stallion hardened himself for it, his green eyes not allowing his expected disappointment to show. He wouldn’t ever let anyone know how badly it hurt every time.
