Ghosts whisper in my ears.

A snort left the stallion before a laugh escaped his lips. Nahawi winced with each laugh, but he couldn't help himself as the tree continued to slowly drop water and needles before it all stopped once it got high enough up for the tree to be finished. “I sure am lucky on that, and so are you.” His eyes flicked to her as he raised a brow. Nahawi might be broken beneath a tree, but at least he had not frozen. It was rude of him to laugh honestly, but he might as well get some humor out of all this pain. He would have some decent scars though to show off to his children if he ever had any he could care for.

As the pain began to set in and the shock left his system, Nahawi’s eyes began to cloud with pain. His body ached in various places and currently it wasn't the cat's marks that hurt the most. Where his back had hit the tree was flaring with pain and he needed to get up, but he knew he couldn't. His pale eyes landed upon this mare as she said a thanks, but he barely managed to shake his head as he continued to lay there. “There is no reason to thank me ma’am. I came into the inlet to find hopefully someone that would willingly follow me home and instead a cat tried to eat me. Seems luck is not on my side.”

Licking his lips, the stallion gave a panting breath before he opened his lips again. “My name is Nahawi. I know I am part of the lagoon, but its lonely there.” Came his voice, his eyes closing as his sides shuddered with an oddly painful breath. He could die here, but he hoped that his angel was still watching over him so that he managed to live through this winter.
