GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
they paint the world full of shadows

in the dark, there is discovery, there is possibility.
there is freedom in the dark once someone has illuminated it.

A little guilt spread through his chest as he watched Vervain’s bold, pretty smile wilt away beneath his concerned question. When she confessed, she wanted to walk alone along the beach, he sensed trepidation in her words, and felt suspicion there was more to the story than she was letting on. But, given that Nephilim hated to cause her any sort of distress, he chose to smile kindly. “Oh, gotcha,” he said confidently, nodding and smiling a little deeper. “Walking along the beach at the Arch was always one of my favorite things to do,” he added.

Nephilim felt a small pang of homesickness but brushed past it quickly. The longer he stayed away from the Arch and with Chati, the more he was beginning to realize going back was going to be difficult. It was hard enough now; he could only imagine how impossible it would feel once the children were born. Nephilim set aside the flurry of thoughts storming through his mind, deciding he’d much rather spend time in Vervain’s soft, lovely company than inside his head.

“Are you still enjoying your beach walk, or would you mind escorting me through the Prairie to wherever Castillon is?” He asked, smile coming back to his handsome face. Nephilim seemed to have a face for smiling, his eyes too, always looked so warm and kind. “I don’t know what kind of dangerous vagabonds might be lurking to come snatch me away, I could use some protection.” His voice teased, hoping to inspire another adorable smile across her face. There was just something about Vervain’s smiles that made his heart feel ten times lighter.
