GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

When the brindle had bolted forward, the stallion had been practically on top of her. His hooves had pounded into the sand hot on her heels, practically touching her from behind to force her wherever it was that he wanted to take her. Only barely had Vervain managed to have enough wit to prevent herself from launching into the water. She should have tried running back toward her mother, toward her father, or anyone close enough to intervene. In the throes of her terror, there was a single idea: run.

The adrenaline coursing through her veins did not allow for secondary thought. So instead, she had turned to run up the beach. Her hooves dug deep into the sand desperately to escape, but the cloying wetness of it hampered her strides by precious seconds. It was a great impediment and would ultimately doom her efforts to escape from him. Too quickly is he on her again. Too quickly could she feel his reach snaking within easy distance of her body once more. Vervain cried out fearfully. She didn't understand what was happening or how or why. She had been dreaming of Nephilim only to open her eyes and find a monster waiting for her.

Tears began to stream freely down her cheeks as fear overtook the hope of escape. A turn of her head would have told Vervain that the stallion had overtaken her stride, his chest lingering parallel to her flanks. He could overpower her easily enough now; a well-placed bite or a hard push could do it. Still, the maiden did her best to recover and run.

Vervain
