The cold felt like a slap in the face, each and every time he braved it to come see Fell. The ocean wasn't warm, really, but compared to the way the cold wormed its way beneath what scant winter coat he grew, it felt positively balmy. Raegar shook himself dry as he came ashore, and then kept right on shaking as the cold seeped its way into his chest and made him shiver. He glanced down as one of Wynn's flowers fell from his mane, surprised the delicate thing had made it all the way from Salem with him, and nosed it for a second with a grin.

Never one to sit around idle, the Badland's stallion began jogging up the beach, his gaze focused inland. The relationship he shared with Fell was likely strange to outsiders. One would not call them friends with how often met each other in battle, and yet Fell was the closest thing Raegar had to a friend. Further, while Raegar would rather not lose any of his mares, if he was going to lose them to anyone, he'd rather it be the Bay stallion. Despite what Rafe had learned and shared about the black stallion's history, Raegar trusted Fell in a way he couldn't even begin to fathom or explain.

That, of course, didn't stop his eyes from wandering to his herd.

He jogged further inland until he found the first indication of life - a flash of a different color, a different shape - through the trees and immediately turned toward the source with a soft whicker under his breath. He didn't know what he'd find yet, but it would be something. And something would be a nice change of pace after the strange back-and-forth exchange he'd shared with the Dunes stallion and his silent gold mare. It wasn't just his confidence that had been shaken by that whole strange exchange, but his sense of the world, too. Nothing had gone to plan, and only another scuffle with Fell was going to right it.
