cold as the sea; Posted on March 5, 2025 at 02:18:35 AM by Zion
After Baba Yaga’s challenge, Zion’s anger had continued to boil beneath his flesh. She had started this war between the Forest and the Arch for no reason that he knew of. Her challenge had come first, spurring on his challenge for Avarice, and yet she seemed to hold a grudge for his win. Every season she was the first to strike, barging into the Arch as if she had any right. Zion was growing tired of it.
It was close to dark when Zion took to the sea. Swimming to Luthien, he debated on what action he might take. To raid, or to battle, or perhaps both. Baba Yaga didn’t deserve any rest. The brown stallion wanted to reward her constant harassment with worse than she had given him. But when he finally stepped foot into the Forest, a strange scent greeted him. It burned his nose and made his face crinkle with disgust before he prowled further into enemy territory to find out what it was.
When Zion spotted the boar, the creature was preoccupied with residence of the Forest. It made his green eyes narrow, but he didn’t interfere. Turning, he stayed to the shadows and left the scent behind. He would skirt around the reek of the boar and look for another resident to challenge for.
