That's a good question - have starters seen their salaries drop (relative to other positions, relative to relievers) commensurate with the significant innings drop?

And with relievers, the extra innings they are pitching now relative to 40 years ago or whatever - I'm guessing it's more that they get split up among a deeper group of relievera rather than the top 2 or 3 getting more innings then they used to?

But is it the case that the 5th reliever who's pitching 70 inning versus the #2 starter throwing 170 makes much more, relative to each other, than when it was more like 20/220 back in the day?

(Numbers are just totally thrown out of my ass, of course. Please feel free to change/correct for accuracy).
