Re(3): Current Events

Just two points, Jim. Saying you Never call me out simply flies in the face years of frequent posts.

And secondly, you're no expert on alchohol abuse unless you have experienced it and sought the common remedies to cure or end the affliction on the individual.

An AI reprint shows me you really know nothing about it but what you read; hence a waste of your time just like is your criticism of people or industries you know little about. Sorry to break it to you, but sales people really are on the outside of the creative industry. If you've never been a performer, a deliverer of the product, you dont' understand it either from the perspective of most people IN it as well as the millions of listeners USING it.

Your sales focus likely was in the persuasive skills needed as well as some knowledge of how it's sold to potential advertisers (mostly about ratings which is just a comparison of the offerings in a market, with no research on those who don't use it enough to be researched.)

IF you want to discuss radio fm a business aspect and its ability to persuade listeners to action, I'd be all ears because you're right, I know little about that....the radio trades exist to advance radio's sales success but they avoid the larger population that spends little time voicing what they like or don't like...its only a narrow numbers comparison of radio afficionadoes and what stations they listen to, only compared to each other.

I was lucky enough to get a people meter for a season, and also learned of the 'book' from programmer types and consultants. But that was a long time ago, so my data experience was limited and didn't extend much further than a college class I took in statistics. I did run a TV station survey system during the Clinton administration, and found its phone gathering methodology lacking when I left their training and then used it in the field.

But if you really want to contribute and maybe revitalize this boring board, put forth some effort here because so far you're not so useful on Gateway, I think.

With all due respect to your experience, I'm interested to see if you're up to the challenge.
