Insanity is a timorous condition to cope with, most suffer their entire lives.
I don't suffer, see my smile?
----------------------------------
It was late evening, the Celestial Mother refracting Her rays against the occasional pool of ice that littered the ground here, as the she-wolf continued along her journey between territories. Her limbs all moved mechanically now, her paws creating a gentle rhythm against the cold earth.
The lull of traveling would have surely entranced any other wolf making the same journey; causing them to become unaware of their surroundings and fall prey to a larger predator, or an unforgiving pack.
But this she-wolf knew better than most; she had seen more of the Celestial Mother that she could recall, and yet for as long as the she-wolf could remember,
She had always been her constant companion. Her Beacon that led her on the very road to Paradise.
She had been through a lot in her many years, and she knew better than to cross any border without proper permission or guidance. Her silver gaze, tinted the slight burnt orange would scan the trail before her; she was well aware she had been following an old game trail for quite some time. She was making sure there was no threat or unwanted company in her midst.
Her limbs would slowly bring her to a stand still, as she'd lean down to place her muzzle close to the hard earth. Her strong senses picked up the faint scent markers still present around the border of the territory. The wolf had an idea that the sentries, or perhaps the Alpha's themselves would be making their rounds relatively soon, seeing as the markers seemed faint to her senses; but she could wait days for them if that's what it took to be noticed.
She would relax herself on her rear haunches, quickly leaning her muzzle down once more to brush and nip her ivories through the pelt at her right ankle. There were several burrs stuck to her fur, and she had learned the neat grooming trick sometime within her life. Only, she couldn't remember from whom. The memory within her mind was hazy with a she-wolf, but no name nor scent came to mind whilst thinking of her. She would simply shrug the memories akin to this off, deeming them as unimportant.
She could also feel several more burrs located on the blades of her shoulders, but she couldn't reach them by herself and so she simply didn't pay them any mind. She remained in her slightly relaxed state for a few more moments; she still kept her audits perked for any sound she could catch , as well as her moist nostrils aimed down wind, so any approaching animal would be revealed in an instant.
The female would then suddenly tilt her muzzle to the sky, her gray fur flashing brilliant silver in the luminescent gaze of the Celestial Mother, as she let out a long, melodic and non-threatening howl. The tone wavered as it hit it's highest note, resonating strongly through the heaven of night, before it began to gradually die out and fall silent once more. This was simply to announce her arrival, and a greeting to any wolf in the vicinity that happened to hear her.
She would lay her body down fully against the cool ground, prepared to wait for as long as she had to in order to be heard. This pack had caught her interest, and she didn't plan on going anywhere until she had at least glimpsed the wolves within.
