Deku's form remained still and stiff aside from the occasional lick of the nose. Golden eyes remained wide in disbelief, almost like she was a ghost. He could hardly believe what he was seeing. Deku hadn't seen her in so many years, he figured she had died. He only knew his father was alive because he sometimes stumbled across his scent. But his mother, there was no comfort of finding her scent scattered across the land. This was a shock. This was unbelievable.

He didn't notice her tail wagging as he stared directly at her face, taking in the features from long ago, from whom his life came from. Everything was dream life, unreal. His ears perked forward as she said his name, and it was the first movement that he made in his frozen state. This must be real, or a really, really vivid dream. Either was a possibility. But that voice...how could he hear it so well if this were a dream?

Deku naturally took a step back when she stepped closer. Normally, he wouldn't have gotten this close to another in the first place. Just being this close was a fluke in itself, and living in such paranoia, he anything that moves closer to him needs to be moved away from. It was only natural. The chocolate and golden brown male did notice her hesitation, her ears falling back, her whine. He was confused. His years of isolation made him an awkward wolf to be around. His tongue licked his nose over and over, a small whine escaping him without intent. He took a few more steps back, falling back onto his haunches, ears flat on his head as he huddled into himself. "I-i-it can't be y-y-you...I must be dreaming...I need to wake up..." he said softly, almost to himself. Deku was in denial...
