Koguma quirked a brow, muscles tensing beneath the heavy layer of fluff that was his malamute coat. The big cat's slow, intimidating approach seemed a bit showy for him, and he wondered curiously why Maliki found it necessary to get so close to him, and so he continued to back up a bit as the lion approached. Eventually his backwards steps landed his hind paws ankle-deep in the icy river, but Koguma didn't take his dark eyes from the lion for a second. His small ears laid flat against his skull as the lion hissed at him, and despite his better judgment - well, he honestly couldn't hear the other, what with his whisper.

"Umm..." said the dog gently, turning his head a little and perking his ears so as to perhaps better hear. "Excuse me, what did you say?" /And why are you whispering?/ he wanted to add, but refrained.
