aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The hunt had not taken place. I was prepared to lead as Beta, let go of the past and step up to the responsibility Sin knew I was very much capable of. Instead of leading out a hunting party, I was surprised to see Rushing Water and her family waltz on in, answering my call but for other reasons. The girl was sick and so was her mate. I posessed very little knowledge when it came to healing or herbs, even diseases I was capable of catching, alot I didn't know about at all. Needless to say, I was useless and did what came natural to me, I called for Sin. She had been my teacher, I admired her for the cold wolf she was even though I had glimpsed upon the heart she posesses sheltered within the thick box of ice for safety, as if it was never there at all. When she finally arrived on the scene, the dark mistress did what she could, asked questions and gained knowledge on what the problem was only to come to a terrible conclusion, the two had to leave.

It was sad to see and it broke my heart to watch the family become seperated but I trusted Sin with my life, she knew what she was doing and I knew she wouldn't do anything of the sort if there was another way. After all was said and done, the few that had arrived dispersed back within the pack lands and I too decided to wander in thought of what was to come and things that wouldn't have surfaced should the hunt have taken place to take my mind off it.

Several hours passed and I was tucked silently in my den by this point, warm and settled when a familiar scent hit my nostrils. Sin, my best friend. I make to my feet, urgent to see her and finally speak with her when I stop in my tracks, fear present in my eyes when the stench of sickness mingles with that familiar and refreshing scent I would notice anywhere. It reminds me of Rushing Water, yet it is different, as if Sin would endure the same fate yet for other reasons and without giving it another moments thought i'm rushing forth out my dens entrance, following her scent as if running for my life, panic in my face and ice in my blood now, worried for my friend, desperate to see her, something telling me it's more important than ever.

I reach her finally and I halt in my tracks when I do. Her body is laid there, silent and barely there at all. All i've known is huddled weak, alone. The smell of sickness is worse and when I shift forward again I finally see her injuries, the ones she tried to hide but she couldn't hide from me now. I bite my bottom lip, sadness overwhelming me a great deal as I look at her and fear the worst. An infection seems to have spread across her shoulder, deadly and inflamed. The whole scene makes me want to run, pretend it isn't real, what I can't see won't hurt me but I can't, I won't leave her.

"..Sin..?" My voice trails off and is a mere whisper on her auds. I shift beside her and lay my frame down, like someone else controlling me telling me what I should do and for good reason. My multi hued coat mingles with her own cold, dark cloak and I rest my chin on her nape, comforting her, silently closing my eyes wishing this wasn't real.
