The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

When Mae exclaimed the remark that they both looked ridiculous, Terrel laughed – the sound of his joy bouncing from wall to wall and creating a chorus of echoes. He stopped but the echo continued for a fleeting moment. It was bizarre to hear yourself echoing over and over. To hear a chorus of the exact sound made Terrel shudder – not from the cold, not from the water that seeped deep down into his skin. It was a shudder that responded to the sheer creepiness of the cavern. He gulped and decided to respond to Mae. “Yeah, we do a bit.” He agreed, unsure on what to say but he wanted to let her know that he was not scared… Or at least he wished to persuade her. Truly he was terrified to find out what lay ahead but curious nonetheless.

When Mae had asked what his opinion was of inside the deeper parts, he had responded by making up a creature. His orbs to just about make out her eyes widening but it was not for long. She soon realised that he had been joking so she too had responded with a remark: ‘Perhaps any monsters in the cave favour the taste of males instead.’ He chuckled at her comment. “Oh no, no, no you see Mae – this creature is a creature that prefers the female body. Apparently they are less crunchy but I don’t know… How do you taste?” He said with a laugh and nudged her back in return.

They walked for about 6 minutes, not daring to talk in fear of ‘the beast’ over hearing. And then an adequate area to sit blossomed into view. It was small but held closure and safety for the two nervous wolves. They sat, the thump of Terrel’s tail keeping the company.

Ask talking for a few minutes, Mae had responded to his comment about not returning. She asked why he would not return. He sighed. Terrel trusted Mae, he knew that she would not gossip or treat him differently however Terrel did not wish to drag on. He would tell her but only briefly. “Well, I won’t bore you with a bunch of sorry tales because I do not wish to. But I will tell you that this place links to a den that I was isolated in. You can imagine the stench of being in a den and never leaving it…” He said, a grim expression crossing his features. “But it’s the past now and I don’t think about it anymore. It’s not just the memory however; the actual atmosphere is just freaky.”

There, he had announced it. Or rather given a clue to it and he hoped that Mae would not think of him differently. The atmosphere was not challenging to slice, tension did not exist and he quickly altered the subject – asking if she would ever return. To his surprise she had disagreed with his thought, explaining that she might have come back if with company and find what else this cavern had in store. He nodded and said: “I guess I wouldn’t mind too much returning though only if I had to, I would not return with my own intentions…” He replied.

He questioned her on whether she wanted to go on, Terrel himself did not like the thought of being idle in this place but when Mae said she wished not to go on he put aside his own desires. “Okay,” he said perhaps a little too glumly.

“So,” he began, “got any games to pass the time?” He said, unlike Mae – Terrel could not be still or quiet for long. He preferred to be active, something to stimulate his mind with. Silence was nice but too overrated for his liking.
