aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Chiron goes over to Zig, asking if he can sit by her. I prick an ear in their direction, ever watchful over Zig for now. At my voice, Chiron remains silent so I take that as a sign that he is not hungry for the title. I would rather an older member take it anyway but it's always nice to know that members don't come in power hungry. Those types never make for good alphas.

Kalgalath agrees with my opening statement, but he seems puzzled when I speak of someone stepping forward to be Aurora's alpha. I turn my head as Kalgalath steps forward to introduce himself before lowering his voice some. He tells me that he doesn't see why I don't take it but that he will offer himself as an option. I trust him completely so I can see how Kalgalath would make a good alpha. He's loyal as any wolf could be and he's gentle by nature. He's a great friend and he's very level headed. I nod in acknowledgement. I do not doubt you or your capability, my friend. You have proven yourself to me in times past. It will be put to vote. My eyes glimmer reassuringly at him.

Zig tells me that she wouldn't have missed this meeting for anything and I smile, glad that she still has her spirit. When I say his name, I see the obvious pain in her eyes but she stands strong and I respect that. She introduces herself to Chiron, telling him he can sit by her. I feel better about this meeting. Maybe some good can come out of it after all. She must have heard what Kalgalath said because she steps forward, telling him that she thinks I should lead. Thank you, Zig. I appreciate your support. I don't ask for the power the title holds so I will have to decline that offer. Perhaps in time, but this is not that time. I could never begin to explain my fear for the pack if I were to hold that kind of power over them, the damage I could do.

I am not strong, not without Akina and my moods are tempermental at best. My sleep has been fitful and I know it's because of her absence. Nightmares plague me once more and I know if there's too much more of this, I won't be able to trust that I won't turn back to the dark. I can't risk that, not with Aurora. I messed up my chances at Munashii with my actions. I can't go back. I won't ruin my chances with Aurora too. I have too much at stake here, too many reasons to stay.

A lone female arrives on the scene, announcing herself with a hesitant voice. She stands proudly but she apologizes for stepping over the borders. I prick my ears toward her, patient as she tells us that her name is Magic and she and her mate have come a long way. They want to be a part of Aurora. My tail sways in approval. New members must be a good sign for Aurora. She waits for a response. My eyes sweep over the others. We work as a team until a leader emerges. Even without an alpha, we are still a pack.

Kalagalath tells Zig that he agrees that I'm the best wolf for the job. He doesn't know what happened at Munashii now, how I turned to the dark and instead of inviting new members in Paranoia's absence, I was running them off, threatening them with aggression and violence. That pack became desolate and it was for the best that I left.

Another wolf approaches, a male, his scent mingled with the female's. This must be her mate then. He introduces himself, saying that we can call him Glitch. Chiron steps forward to greet the couple next. I feel that I judged him too harshly before, thinking that he was an older member just showing up out of nowhere. Knowing that he's a new member, I now understand why he asked for my title. How could he know the ranks? I agree to start off with a new slate. Welcome to Aurora Borealis. It's a pleasure to meet you both. You may consider yourselves pack members from here on out. I am King Kong, though most call me Kong. Feel free to join our ranks and sit where you like. We're asking for members to step forward for the title of alpha. So far we have Kalgalath. Are there any others? My eyes sweep the others, wanting to make sure we don't have other members still hidden in the woods or not here yet.
