aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

His multicolored pelt streaked through the woodland, sweeping back the occasional branch, but for the most part his bodice traveled under the branches. His body traveled swiftly around the boundary of the pack, checking to ensure that his scent encircled the entire terra. And then a scent came to his nares upon the wind – another stranger was at the borders of Aurora Borealis. The brute paused and stretched up his cranium. A deep breath was inhaled, and he analyzed what swirled around inside of his olfactories. It smelled like a young fae, but she was carrying many different scents with her, so that it was like a whirlwind within him. It piqued the brute’s intrigue, and so he carried forth once more, his long limbs travelling toward the unknown fae.

As he neared her, the brute heard the sound of the stranger’s howl. It was a soft soprano that rang throughout the night. The brute inhaled deeply once more. He was nearer to her now, and he could pick up some of the scents more clearly, and one in particular stopped the brute dead in his tracks. It was a scent that was always on his mind, one that he would never forget. Aindreas. His memory flashed back to the first time he had seen the white ball of fluff being carried into Munashii Gekko by the fae named Casey. The pup had been polite, and Kal had taken him under his wing, teaching him loyalty above anything else. Aindreas had grown into a strong teen… but then Kalgalath had left Munashii Gekko… had left Blossom Forest all together. And he had not seen Aindreas since. Aindreas had, for at least a brief moment in time, been more respectable and more loyal of a wolf than Kalgalath. Kal had left his Alphess and his duty to her. Aindreas had stayed… for a little while longer at least.

But what was his scent doing upon this stranger? Was Aindreas newly returned to Blossom Forest? Kalgalath raised his muzzle to the sky and called for both Kong and Magic – they were the two in the pack who knew about Aindreas. Kong had known Aindreas personally, while Magic had merely heard about the wolf who was the closest to offspring Kalgalath had ever come. Though he would not announce anything to the fae, he would ask one, or both of them to see if it is true. To follow the fae’s tracks and see where they lead. To see if his so… if Aindreas was back.

His haunches twitched violently then, anxious to reach the fae. He took off at a run again, and used the run to compose himself. By the time he reached the fae, he was calm and stoic. He approached her with his plume stiffly curled over his dorsal, his bodice tall and proud. His icy gaze stared down at the fae. Aindreas had had the cold, electric blue eyes that he did, even though they were not related. Kalgalath ignored this thought and continued to observe the white fae before him. She was in a state of disarray, her coat all matted and soiled. She was seated upon the soil just outside of Aurora Borealis’ boundary line, still and silent.

State your name fae, and why you are sitting outside of my pack’s territory. What are your intentions? Speak quickly and truthfully now, what are your intentions?” The scent of Aindreas was stronger now, still faint, but stronger than before. It was definitely there - it couldn't be that he was imagining it. How did this mess before him know Aindreas? All the while that these thoughts swirled in his mind, Kalgalath remained still and stoic, his gaze cold and unwavering, showing nothing.
