At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Lucien
I Think We All Must Have Gone Mad
--------------------------------------------------
She had seemed so peaceful, and he had instantly regretted disturbing the girl. It was unlikely she was who he thought she was: Wasn't his sister dead? Still, at his soft word, the femme had spun around rather violently, her very familiar face betraying shock. His heart stopped. No. It couldn't be. He must be dreaming, or mistaken. Still, a little beacon of hope had worked its way into his chest as he stood, wordless. Maybe. Just maybe.

“Hi. Is it really you, Lucien?” By now, his paws and rest of his body had gone numb. She knew his name. That could only mean..."Chenzii," He breathed softly, scared that the breath would shatter the illusion, and he'd awake to find himself alone once more. She looked so anxious, and suddenly that little beacon of hope had ignited in his chest, the flames heating every bone in his body, and setting his eyes alight. "Chenzii!" The name came faster this time, as he realised this was for real. She was here. She was alive. His sister was alive.

Quick strides carried him across the land, covering the short distance between them. Leaning in close, he softly breathed in the scent of her pelt as he nuzzled her shoulder as if he had not seen her for years. Because he hadn't. "Chenzii, Chenzii, Chenzii. Do you have any idea how much I've missed you." He murmured into her pelt, feeling like a pup once more, protected again by her warmth. What were the chances that they had stumbled upon each other once more? Silently, he was thanking Kaive, and who ever else watched over them. He was given another chance, to see his sister once more.

Life hadn't exactly been nice to Lucien when she had disappeared. Suddenly, he had to feed himself. Look after himself. Avoid bigger and hungrier predators. Stay warm. He'd survived, but it had taken so much out of him, to the point was he wasn't sure he'd ever be whole again. Lucien saw too many terrible things to have ever gone back to being the soft little pup who had lived with his family and pack, in what seemed like a fairy tale. Still, seeing Chenzii, again, here in front of him, gave him some form of hope for the future. He felt a piece of his heart begin to repair itself, and in that moment, he had never been happier to see someone.
