The Devil's got a rifle on my front porch
She was a whole one year old! A momentous occasion if she did not say so herself for so much had changed in such a short time. She'd moved homes, grown paws too big for her body and watched her mother get slowly, but surely, bigger and rounder. Of course, that meant she was expecting more siblings - so her father had explained to her - and whereas that was indeed change, she was still divided: was it going to be good change or bad change? She would need to discuss such things with both Maradona and Octavia before she could be sure, though she was already positive that she was already (and always) the most fantastic of them all. Change had and would always happen but that was one thing that would never be able to.
Maybe others called her vain, she didn't know, but that wasn't so much the case in her eyes at least. See, to her, there was absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be the very best in all trades and circumstances! That's what a Queen (and a Princess) was supposed to be, right? That's why she could always be found racing about Glorall at top speed, leaping and bounding, weaving and snapping at branches and leaves. She was training to be the fastest, strongest and most agile of not only her siblings but of her entire family. Sure, it was a long shot but today, she was positive that she could do it. And that is why she had spent her entire morning running down the length of the river, leaping between and over the rocks at every chance she could.
Until she saw a boy utterly and totally failing at... drinking water? Oh, she could hardly believe it but she had totally just seen it happen! Well, she'd been some distance away but nonetheless, she saw his nose go in and - bam! - he was snorting and coughing everywhere. There was no way she could suppress her laughter as she jogged over, her tail bouncing high above her as she came to meet him.
"Who on earth told you to drink like that? You lap up the water, not suck it up!"
She sighed dramatically and rolled her eyes, leaning down beside him and touching her muzzle to the water. With another roll of her eyes, she met his gaze with raised brows - a look that said pay attention - before she started to slowly drink from the river, exaggerating each lap of the water. Then, she rose once more, tail wagging and chest puffed slightly.
"See? It's that easy."
