Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Outside of Taviora was wonderful, beautiful even. Her father had taken them to the free lands one day after mother had been gone for a few days. As always he had dutifully brought them food then he just said they should come with him and well they did! Momma never really liked their father always grumbling but she didn’t say no about them going around the pack and playing with him. She hadn’t ventured out of the pack before then and it was quite the adventure. It was like the birds able to go wherever they wanted and pleased. It almost felt like flying or what she thought would be like flying. It was freedom. Not that she was ever trapped before but the confines of a pack offered little for adventure and it would probably petrify her mother to know that her baby girl caught her father’s wandering paws and her love to see whatever she wanted when she wanted but still she felt homesick. Of course she couldn’t voice this to her father.

She missed her mom it had been quite some time since she had seen her. She loved her father and he certainly could be a bit more comical to be around than mom he just didn’t seem to understand her and her needs as well as her mom did. He tried to be certain asking question upon question getting nods and shakes and comical face movements to attempt to say something wordlessly or dramatize it for Yoska. He was getting it, but she was certain sometimes they were a bit burdensome to his normal ways. Amu had told them stories of lands really far away where it was nothing but sand like the beach, or where wolves were few and far between (he spoke pretty fondly of that place but it was beyond her why) and the girl just lapped up his stories of his adventures wishing for her own. But she could never share them.

Tuari thought again of her mother sitting outside the den that their father had etched out for them for the winter, the promise of continued adventure over Moladion exciting her now that the snow was melted and the days warmer and longer. But that seemed as though fate had deemed it time to return what she had been missing to her. It came at first in the form of birds scattering and silencing around the area, the girl hadn’t yet scented her, though her keen nose working. Father had been teaching them to hunt so she had been quickly becoming more aware of the scents and sounds around her but she didn’t need her nose to hear the booming howl touch her ears.

A soft gasp of excitement escaped her maw and the girl, much more steady on her paws now went scampering towards brother her maw soundless and barking excitedly at him before tearing away from the den towards its source. How could she forget that voice? The one that she heard as a child the one she wished her brother could share in? Her body moved so easily and fluidly through the woods leaves matting into her shoulders and scruff. She had filled out over the months showing a build like her father but her mother’s extra muscle becoming quite apparent even on her gangly little legs. So excited to hear the sound of her mother’s call she didn’t even notice the ferocity and anger that etched into the back. She was here! That was all she could tell.

As soon as her bright hazel eyes landed on her the girl gave an extra burst of speed until she rammed into her mother’s chest nuzzling her all the while. It wasn’t as though her father mistreated her, hardly, she was the picture of a healthy yearling well fed and with a glossy coat still though nothing could replace her mother’s touch, voice or scent.
