The sound of waves crashing on the shore would be considered beautiful and relaxing to some. But to many of the wolves of Glorall it was just a constant background noise that never ended. Even now the beauty of the sea went unnoticed by Judas as he lay in a tall patch of grass in the afternoon heat. The sun was rather warm today which made doing much of anything hard. The young wolf dozed lazily for much of the morning and early afternoon. It wasn't until a loud bee buzzed close to his ear that he snapped to attention and gazed around the area. With a growl of annoyance he rolled on his back and scratch aimlessly at a non-existent itch. "Oh my god I'm so bored!" he exclaimed to no one in particular. A bird that had been resting on a low branch sang its displeasure at the sudden noise and flew away. Other than that, nothing happened. Things were peaceful in Glorall. Peaceful and downright boring. Judas hadn't been up to much since his trip into the free lands and now he needed to make up for lost times. Mischief always came easy to the young prince and even now his mind was hatching a plan to bring about some chaos. With a sly grin, he corrected himself and shook any loose grass from his fur before trotting off to the river that parted Diveen and Glorall. It was totally okay for him to be here. Not only did the two packs have a treaty but he was a prince, an heir to the throne. That gave him more leeway than some of the other members of the ocean pack, right? This is what was running through the pup's mind as he trotted along the edge of Diveen. His fur was soaking wet up to his chest from the river he had to cross to get here. He had never seen Diveen up close before and he couldn't say he was all that impressed. It was a flat land with tall, dry grass and some strange looking rock formations. It was nothing like the green land of his home and, not for the first time, Judas was happy he had been born to Tesseract and Caligula. There was a sudden shift in the wind and an odd smell reached his nose. He paused in his wanderings to sniff the air and discovered it was a corpse of some sort but nothing like he had ever smelled. It didn't take him long to find the body of a baby bison. Though he did not know what this creature was he could tell it was safe to eat simply because it smelled so good. He didn't wait to dig into the carcass, getting blood all over his muzzle. Thunder. Wait, it didn't look like there was going to be any rain today. Why would there be thunder? It took a moment for the child to realize that the rumbling sound he was hearing wasn't coming from the sky but from the ground. Violet eyes looked up just in time to see a great beast charging straight towards him. It was a monster unlike anything Judas had seen and he barely had any time to dart out of the way before those hooves had a chance to crush him. For a moment, the wolf went unnoticed by the mother bison as she checked on the body of her new deceased calf. It wasn't until he tried to move away that her head turned to him and a great snort erupted from her nose. Judas felt his ears fall flat and his eyes widened. "Shit..." Perhaps it would have been wise to have found a deeper part of the river to swim across. Of course, with a giant, raging bison hot on his heels, that was the last thing Judas was thinking about. The mother had followed him deep within Glorall and her hooves tore the ground apart as she raced after the wolf. He laughed crazily as the pair moved across the land as if in a sort of wild dance. He veered left and had her follow him to the beach. It was time to bring some excitement to the pack. Surely some others had heard the chaos and perhaps someone could help him get this brute off his tail. Either way, it was looking like today was going to be rather interesting for the wolves of Glorall. Judas was back and all the mischief had returned with him. |
