Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

- It is not a good idea, I am telling you…

Voltaire told me, but all he got from me was a cold snarl.

- Just get me to him!

The words were cold and made him take one step away from me. The dark wolf lowered his head and seemed more defensive.

- … I’m not offending him, it’s just Amir.

The snarl soon faded within my throat and I looked straight ahead as we kept walking among the trees. It was day, but the light barely filtered through the leaves here. Voltaire had his nose pointing down and eyes alert for any clues as to where he could be. He was one of the best trackers we had, but little knew it. Thanks to my dad I did. He told me that a mouse lands away from here would not be able to run away from Voltaire’s eyes. It was true that he found my dad several times. Their story is pretty unknown to me. Sometimes I am afraid of asking my dad. He is still a mystery to me. As well as my grandpa, Devil. But it is hardly the only reason I seek him today.

Voltaire was right. My dad would rip my tail off if he found out that I am after my grandpa. He doesn’t want me to go after Devil. But I could clearly notice the difference in his voice tone as he shouted to me not to go after grandpa. My dad’s eyes were also clearly filled with tears. My dad loved him greatly... But I do not understand why he does that to himself. I couldn't understand why he tortures himself like that. I’ve seen the weakness and pain so raw and deep within his eyes. It was true. My dad couldn’t lie at all. He couldn’t hide how shattered he is. But for some reason, in front of Sinclair he did manage to hide. But that only time. Now, there is something that worries me and I don’t know what to do.
Voltaire stopped suddenly before reaching a big tree.

- This is as far as I can go. He is close… Just please be careful…- Voltaire told me.

- Thank you. There is no need to worry.

But he did. The dark wolf turned and walked away, giving a last look behind his shoulder before proceeding and disappearing into the woods. My head followed him.

My heart raced a little as I looked ahead. Well, this was it. Was I afraid of my own grandpa? No. it is just that it has been some time and Devil had always been a bigger mystery for me even more than my father. I knew a few tales of the great Devil and the legends that told, warrior after warrior, Devil had defeated in the field and nobody had ever matched his strength. What a family… It seems that I am the only one who is not great.
