fifteen - Fenrir's heart - Heyel's soul
sister of warlow
dam of sven *adopted*, arthfael, alistair, alexander, and ankh,
There is a passive sense of peace over the den. It is strange almost the way they all tended to fall into a peaceful coexistence of helping one another, knowing that the other would protect the pups if one was busy elsewhere. Fenrir and Natu could have taken care of their children alone - they were both capable - just as the other pairs could do, but this community was wholesome. The children seemed to thrive in it and how happy it was to see their wiggling bodies, to smell their puppy breath and know that they were thrilled with everything. So she lays curled up over the children left knowing that the others would be safe in the care of Seamus and slumbers.
Until the cry from her mate, the kind of cry that sends a chill rippling down her spine and her breath catching. Then she shoots up with a firm demand to the children cocooned in her legs. "Stay here!" It is a tone that she has not used on them before, one of fear and fury, not at them but at the knowledge that her children were in danger. Lean legs carry her from the den and bursting into the daylight to catch the sight of a huge bear roaring and Fenrir herding the children back to her in a frantic manner. Her ears lace back, pale blue eyes filled with a sense of doom and horror and relief, relief that she can see her children among the little ones and she lunges to meet her mate, her maw brushing along his instinctively, a way to sooth the furor and at his silent bequest she takes the children firmly, maw nudging their terrified forms into the den.
Natu stops at the entrance, her stance firm and rigid while her tail rises and fur with it to stare at the scene. Fenrir swoops in frantically as he tries to drag a stunned chocolate male out of the way, Seamus, and Natu wants at once to go to his aid but also to stay. To make sure no beast will take the children from any of them. First Haziel appears in a blur then Vincent and then Rhae comes, immediately brushing against Natu, and in her state she growls low at the Queen. Each nerve ending is telling her opposite signals and she stops in her growl - there will be time enough to apologize for such behavior later, but Natu is on high alert. The children are safe behind her and the wall of females yet her love, her heart, and all their hearts were in the fray.
The crack of Neirin's back has Natu whimpering quite suddenly, head lowering, and the blood that curls down the head of Ifrit. "No," she whispers, but she does not engage. Lucero is there now to help and her heart breaks for a moment because she knows. She knows the wounds that she hears from the light colored Neirin and the way the bear digs it's fangs into the skull of Ifrit that neither can come out of that alive. That Everlyse would at once lose her heart and her children's father and that Neirin - poor Neirin with his broken heart - would leave the world not knowing if he had any children of his own.
