The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The warmth in the tunnels was a nice reprieve from the bitter cold of Winter's end, but Solitaire was no stranger to enduring the cold alone. He might now have a pack and feel a loyalty to it, but it had been a long time prior to this that he had lived alone. Solitaire had a hard time trusting others, but despite that fact, he was relatively friendly still. Hesitant in some situations, perhaps, but that was to be expected after all the trauma he had faced. Another good reason for him to take up the healing aspect of life. Solitaire knew what it was like to be hurt, to watch others suffer alongside him. What better way than to honor those memories and so forth than to help those in need? To help the sick and wounded and make a real difference in the world? To make his pack healthier? Solitaire was sold on the idea.

Dragging all the memories needed to remember most of it, that was the hard part. First getting them to the forefront of his mind again, and then having to relive the bad parts of it all to get to the needed bits about healing plants and methods. If he became good at this task, then it would be worth it. That was what he had to hold onto. That when it was all said and done, dealing with the past again would be worth all the rest. So moss was the subject for today, though he still wanted to snoop around for to see if any of the other cave and tunnel dwelling plantlife was in here somewhere. Some of it probably was, so Solitaire would keep himself hopeful for that. In the Winter even some of these thrived because the heat didn't change as much. Even for the most part, all year round.

A voice answered back after he had called out, sure that someone had been coming closer to where he was at, and he was right. She was dark enough that it was difficult to see her at first, and she was but a little thing. He wonders why she was here, if she was looking for shelter from the cold or something else entirely. The question she posed to him made him glance back at the wall where he had torn the moss from, and the statement that followed had him grinning back at her. "I'm not digging through the stone, just scraping off some of the moss here. I aim to be a healer, so I am collecting some of the plant matter growing down here." A pause, thoughtful on her purpose. "And what are you doing this far in? Looking for something?" He was curious, no ill intent meant by asking.
