Spring was in full swing now which found the slender slip of a girl nestled in a field of wildflowers that seemingly towered around her. Like silent sentinels that stood guard over the innocent being that seemed to slumber so peacefully. Her lips twitched almost constantly, occasionally pulling back in a snarl over her ivory teeth as if to ward off some dream creature before she would fall back to muttering and mumbling the nonsense of the drowsing. The call that shook the area caused one cream-lined ear to twitch instinctively and her eyes to flutter open against the noonday sun. Her slender head rose to scan the surrounding area, focusing on the outcropping of rocks where a few lupine forms already heading that direction.
After a moment she stoop, her jaws gaping in a yawn before shaking off the dust and pieces of grass that clung to her chocolate form. She made her way casually over, swaying as she walked in no semblance of a straight line. She neared, close enough now to catch sight of the many distinctive forms gathering around but she made no move to approach any closer. Her head cocked to the side as her mind attempted to process what might be going on here but to no avail. Someone had called, they all had answered.
It was then she spotted the puddle of water a few steps away, formed in the dip of a large rock and collected in one of the recent summer storms. Her body stilled even as her hart began to race, her pink tongue flicking out over cream lined lips. She had not tasted water in a few days now, her throat thick with dehydration but she could never bring herself to get close enough to the rivers to drink. Maybe this, some deep part of her mind wondered… On dainty paws she flowed closer, eyeing the small pool of water as if it was a predator that might move aggressively against her at any moment. Her mahogany toes at the edge of it now, she swallows heavily, tongue thick in her mouth but she cannot lower her head. "Frailty and weakness and what are you?!” she shouts at her own reflection though no doubt those close by might hear her.
With more strain that should have been necessary she lifted one paw, placing it slowly in the shallow puddle until it rested in the center. It was not even close to covering the top of her foot and she sighed with immeasurable relief. Her eyes closed, blissful in this single moment before she lowered her head to lap gingerly at sun-warmed water that she so dearly needed. All the time her large ears twitched and moved atop her head, often in different directions like radars spinning and searching for a capital s Something.
