The tree deserved everything it got! Inanna growled to herself as she wrestled with a branch that had been sticking out of the ground. The branch had been poking out, catching the young girl and tripping her, causing her to fall and the rock she had found went flying out of her mouth. Try as she might, she could not relocate the porous rock that had the amazing ability of floating on water. A feat she had never witness from a rock before. Therefore it had to be hers. Now this, this tree root, stole her prize away from her. Upon turning on her hated enemy she decided it was the perfect size for one of her sister’s drawing tools. Not only was she going to defeat this foe, but she was going to gift it to her sister! The tides had turned!
If only she could actually win this battle. Chewing, biting, tugging, gnawing, barking, growling, pouncing, and simple wailing had done nothing to make the earth release her prize. Finally she sat and glared at it. It was the one thing she had yet to try. She doubted it would work. While she glowered, her mind started to wander this way and that. There was a chance there was a better prize elsewhere. Sif was probably wanting to do something, possibly play, and this was a waste of time. An adventure would be fun, and her new friend seemed keen to go on them! Many things would be better than sitting her and trying to will the root to get out of the ground. But no. It stole her rock. Inanna growled and tackled it again, this time using all of her little force to try to get it out of the ground. Sif was so much better at this.
A noise behind her makes Inanna jump suddenly in surprise. The direction and force of her fright, coupled with the tightening grip on the tree root wrenched it from the loosened dirt. She had her prize! And some woman was looking at her. Friendly as could be, Inanna trotted up to the lady. She smelled of Glorall, looked nice enough, and something about her scent seemed vaguely familiar as well. The pup tilted her head to listen to what the elder had to say. Thor? She knew Thor. Again she felt that weird ‘not sick’ feeling in her stomach and the heat under her coat. He had complimented her face.
Unsure if her new prize would find its way away from her, Inanna dropped it and placed a protective paw over the root. Her tail wagged in greeting to the woman. “I know Thor!” She admitted happily. Just as she had been with Thor, Inanna was very forthcoming with her answers. They were simple questions, and her actions in this case were of no consequence and could not get her into trouble. She stayed around home, did not go far, only talked to one stranger, and did not eat anything that smelled funny. “I found a rock! Then I lost it. So I got this stick instead.” She explained. See, perfectly normal day.
