aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Seraphina was ever kind and encouraging to the younger of the princes, Let’s go Castiel! We can’t let those demons catch us! Cas would have replied happily but alas the energy that would have been spent on speaking would have likely been his doom. And so he settled for a simple smile and meager nod as he ran along behind his two playmates. And soon enough the swift pull of the lakes waves and the slick stones at its edge were gone and springy grass was once more under foot. And the ashy prince couldn’t have been any happier, water was fun and all but not when it was dragging him and there were demons on his heels! Thankfully he stumbled onto the first cave within a few minutes of running into the forest, his little legs just wanted to rest and he wanted to catch his breath. Cas had barely given his steely coloured brother and the fiery princess enough time to see him, but it was enough nonetheless. He heard a muffled yelp from Seraphina that sounded vaguely of his name, but the princeling was too distracted the utter helplessness he felt. Castiel felt blind once more, his eyes struggled to adjust to the sudden change of light availability, or lack thereof. And even when they had adjusted there was hardly anything to been seen in the inky darkness.

More muffled whispers echoed down the length of the cavern, but the pup had trouble deciphering the words as they jumbled over each other by the time he was able to hear them. Something of the tone sounded like Vladimir but Castiel couldn’t have truly been sure. Every puppies voice had some high pitched tone quality to it, and it wouldn’t be for a little while longer that the boys started to gain their independent and deeper sounding voices. Seraphina’s would round out into a more feminine register, but overall the important thought was that they’d all finally sound different. Another wave of sound reached his ears and because the origination point was closer, he was vaguely able to pick up on the syllables. The prince realized it was Seraphina calling his and Vlad’s names and then a short few seconds later he heard a muffled response, likely Vladimir considering he wasn’t speaking yet. Castiel stopped his movements trying lessen the amount of sound that was echoing throughout the cavern they were currently inhabiting. Castiel opened his mouth to say something but he found himself struggling to pronounce any actual words and ended up looking like a fish gasping for air, not that anyone could actually see. And so inherently he just coughed and then went silent again.

…Cas!...

His brother’s voice echoed down through the cavern, but it was close enough to the point that he understood clearly what was being said. Thank Torr he’d had the sensibility to stop moving! Lest he never find his way out of this darned place. I’m here Vlad. He whispered back. Though he really wasn’t sure where ‘here’ was… but it was a comfort to hear his brother’s voice clearly once more. Cas could still see the light at the entrance of the cave and he knew his friends had not yet moved past his point and so he crawled forward towards where he could vaguely assume they were. Too busy in his own processes and because of the voice Vlad used, Castiel did not hear his brother speak to Seraphina. He didn’t hear the apology or the olive branch but it wouldn’t be hard to figure out what had been said eventually, because eventually Cas would be their third wheel. Maybe it wouldn’t until they were teens or even adults, but it would happen eventually. That couldn’t be helped, especially with how handsome Vladimir would be and beautiful Seraphina would become. And Cas? Well who knew what would happen with him, he hated thinking about adulthood and so it never crossed his mind to think of ever finding love. He was just a bachelor in the making it seemed.

Please tell me I’m going the right direction…

Castiel murmured quietly under his breath. And then like he’d said a magic spell he felt his crown push up against someone’s chest. His ashen head pulled away and up and he came face to face with who he could only assume was Seraphina. The chest structure had been too small to be his brother and the fur felt different from him and his brother’s. So by process of elimination he decided it was Seraphina, and he was sort of thankful for that, Vlad would have probably made fun of him for something. So, uh, now that I’ve found you guys, let’s stick together. Okay? When he asked for this he really wasn’t going to take ‘no’ for an answer. This cave was blindingly dark and scarily so. I’m not leading this little gravy train through the dark… so what is the plan from here?
