Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

The plains of Asteraia were great and all - I mean they were MINE now - but I missed the lick of adventure that once had consumed me. Sometimes I caught myself thinking so melancholy thoughts then berated myself. I was only THREE, not eleven or twenty. There was plenty of time for adventure and I had dared that boy Tepiltzen to a game of cunning. Yet I hadn't seen hide nor hair of the little forest boy and I was growing fast bored waiting around so I had told my mate that I was going out for a bit. Now that Aranck was dead and Pine had taken over Iromar the world was safe once more. My brother had been hustled home beneath the guise of cleverness and I felt content knowing all was back in place, with the exception. Of the emptiness in me at the loss of my parents. But time passes and wounds heal. I was stronger now than I had been. Not because I chose it but because I had no choice.

Upon birth as a princess I had demanded the world recognize me as a future Empress of Iromar. I had trained and traveled for it but then it had been robbed from my by murder and violence and I was left shaken and bereft. Life was not so simple as good and bad anymore but a lot of muddied and scary. It had taken time and healing to realize that I could not make myself rule over the land that was stained with the blood of innocents and the blood of my mother. But Halcyon had swooped in and he had helped make my decision easier - he offered me the plains and himself and I took it and found that ruling was exactly what I had always wanted and needed.

I found myself padding across the fields of Ruieze with a bounce in my step as the hot sun pressed down upon me. A slight breeze brings the scent of another and a flash of white makes my eyes trail towards the young boy. He stares at something and I follow his gaze, noting the pouncing fox and then the sudden change in the boys direction. A mischievous grin settled across my maw as I watch him to see if he was gonna steal the meal and sure enough he barks and takes it away from the thwarted fox. With a barking laugh I jog towards him, pausing a few feet away so he doesn't mistake me for an interloper intending to chase HIM from the meal. I had plenty enough to eat in Asteraia.

"Good catch," I say joking but with a saucy grin, tail swishing in friendliness before I plop down on my haunches unceremoniously. "Easier than chasing it yourself anyways. You are clever." My voice is boasting and youthful. "I am Aster, Queen of Asteraia! It was named before me but I'm pretty sure it was because someone somewhere knew I would one day rule it!" My eyes twinkle as I bare a toothy grin at him, chuckling.
