Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

Knowledge is a luxury that Thor never wanted to quite learning. As a pup, he had leaned more toward the diplomatic side of wanting to talk to other wolves and keep the peace but when he was on his own, talking didn't get him very far. No, in the end, it was actions that led to his survival and he would never forget that. Now he wanted to be a fighter and defender for Glorall, more like Fenrir was than Natu but he would never forget his mother's wisdom either. He just wished he had been here to spend more time and learn from them before their passing. Now that guilt would forever be on his shoulders.

He could tell early on that Blackthorne didn't like to be told what he was or what to do, etc. so he decided that to help earn the wolf's respect, he would have to push his buttons a little, show him that Thor didn't fear him and only then would the younger wolf start realizing that maybe instead of putting all his energy into rebelling against him, he should just sit back and see what he can learn. So far it seemed to be working. While Blackthrone showed signs of distaste over being called his apprentice, he also wasn't full on confronting him or trying to attack. Thor had to take that as a good sign.

He didn't know much of anything about Blackthorne and the direction he was taking in life but he would work to remedy that. Maybe some day he could look back on Blackthorne as a progeny of his first task as mentor. Maybe he would teach the wolf something great or maybe Blackthorne would just learn what he could from him and then forget about him. Either way, Thor still had to try. The wolf commented back in a matter of fact way saying he could save his own life and Thor sighed, rolling his eyes.

"That kind of thinking is what's going to get you killed some day. It's fine to be good enough on your own, but you can't let your one man show get in the way of greatness. We are programmed as pack animals. We are stronger as pack. You might be able to scrape by on the skin of your teeth but can you save your own life and someone's else's? Can you strategize and make sure there are few casualties if a pack war were to start? Could you ensure the pack's survival? It's not just about you. It's about the effect you have on the world."

He didn't care for Blackthorne's sarcasm but he shrugged it off for now, putting it down to foolish arrogance and if he let it get under his skin then he would be no better off. He didn't mind that Blackthorne didn't seem to know his parents. He was still young and history would only come to those who were patient enough to sit and listen. So far Blackthorne had shown himself to be too up in his own head until you get his attention so he doubted he had ever had a history lesson on Moladian. He only smirked again as Blackthorne said that he would hear him out but he wouldn't be told what he was. Thor watched patiently as Blackthorne took a seat, tilting his head and raising a brow in amusement before he sniffed at the question and looked off over the borders of Glorall.

"A great big feeling of being utterly and totally alone. At first you think it's just another adventure, a vacation away from the stress and drama and annoyance of other wolves chatting in your ears. But when days turn into weeks and then weeks into months with absolutely no one around, you start missing it. Contact with others becomes a craving, a yearning like nothing else. You scrape by on lizards and rats, rabbits and whatever else you can catch on your own but over time, you have less and less energy to feed yourself because the desolation weighs you down. You start walking more and eating less. Soon enough, you're just a bag of bones and your voice is so hoarse from lack of use that you're not even sure you know how to speak anymore."

He paused for a minute to let it sink in so far, his watchful gaze returning to Blackthorne, making sure he was appreciating the story for what it really was, a lesson.
