Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

She knew they had done their best to help, at least, her mother did. Zelda checked in on her condition with her mother when she could, and checked herself when time allowed. For the most part it seemed as though the female remained in a state of rest, which Zelda could only imagine was probably the only thing she really could do. She had been on plants to numb the pain, willow and valerian, poppy when it was real bad based on what her mother had said, but Zelda was certain she was still in pain. Her ears flicked back, but she had to meet with the female. Word had reached her from the wolves around her that she was becoming awake more often. The bitter cold winds blew about her fur, causing it to mat at her fringed legs and longer furred tail for the most part. Still she wanted to do this as soon as she could. Winter was well underway, and the longer she let it rest, the more likely she couldn’t talk to Pine before something else happened. She didn’t know how noble the wolfess was, proud or anything else, but Zelda hoped she might be more willing now to answer some questions than she had been when she had first been kept in Taviora.

Soon she came to the den’s entrance, close by she could see Alexander and one of his brothers not far off. Guard duty, she was sure it was inconvenient to Starfall, but this wasn’t about controlling Arace, right now, Zelda figured she could do little, it was about protecting her too, from herself, from others. This meeting would delegate a lot of what would happen next once she was more healed, more mobile and capable of doing things on her own. Her tail waved lightly though just before she peeked in, she was about to call and ask if she might enter when she heard the raspy voice of the female instead.

She was sharp, but Zelda already knew that. The title she gave Zelda though was.. Interesting, she couldn’t tell if it was mocking or if she really meant it. Really the title in some ways was… fitting… for more than one reason, yet Zelda ignored it. Her voice was light as she called in, ”You can call me Zelda, if you want. Can I come in? You sound like you need some water, I can gather some in a turtle shell and bring it back if you wish?” Probably not the best tactic for interrogation, but the woman could invite herself in if she wanted and she knew that, but she didn’t want to be imposing either. She wanted answers, but she knew in time she would get them, or she wouldn’t, but right now she knew Arace wasn’t going anywhere.

She stepped in, slowly though still sat far enough away so that she could be told to leave if Arace wanted that. Zelda was not going to power her way through this. She was delicate, and hoped that if she was in such a position someone would offer her some choice in the matter. ”Not a prisoner again, not if you don’t want to be. It’s about your perspective. These guards, they are here to protect you, as well as us. I have no idea what else you have done, but right now you are under Taviora’s protection and care. Wether you want to be a prisoner again… well that’s up to you. Mother, the healer who tends to you, says you should walk again someday. But… I don’t blame you for feeling that way. What happened was… unfortunate. Which is why I thought fit to help you after what you did to us.” she could tell the female was angry, upset about everything her situation, she couldn’t blame her for having a desire to die, but she was alive, maybe now she had the chance to change.

”Things… they happen for a reason, Miss Arace, I know this is bad, but you are alive. Please, if you could tell me, who’s fault is this really, and I don’t mean you and I don’t mean Iromar. I will see that they repent for what has happened to you.” She didn’t say she knew it was a Diveen wolf, she left it out there as bait for Arace to attempt to lie to Zelda’s face, to see if she could be trusted, be honest. ”Please… don’t make this for nothing.” Zelda said her tones sounding sad, and caring, her eyes roaming up to the healing face of the wolfess, trying to meet her eyes. She wanted to help Arace, but Arace had to let her.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
