He felt like he was stumbling through what he was supposed to be doing but for now, he would do as he was told until he figured out what had happened. He swam back from the war in the Forest to look for Shenzi, hell bent on finding her and escorting her out of the Lagoon if she hadn't left yet. But he couldn't find her anywhere he looked. Then a call rang out from a mare and his ears flicked back in uncertainty. What was going on? He could smell the markers that a mare had come here while he was gone, seeming to challenge. The call was telling all bachelors to go to the Peak. So was he a prisoner now? His tail flicked to his flanks in confusion as he turned and headed toward the free lands, but not without taking another long look around just to make sure he didn't miss anything. There was no hints or signs of Shenzi except a faint scent of her. Did she escape? Did she leave?
He had to know for sure before he made any decisions. He told Kendry he would come to see him once he knew that she was safe, but now he was no closer to knowing than ever. Snorting, he tossed his head and trotted forward, knowing he would have to go through the free lands to get to the Peak. Maybe he would come across her scent then? He took his time but knew if the mares of the Peak were serious about taking the bachelors as prisoners, they wouldn't be kept waiting long. Once he reached the boundaries, he paused and looked around, wondering if there was a certain place they were supposed to go. Maybe if he hadn't returned to the Lagoon at all, he wouldn't be in this mess. If he had just said yes to Kendry and followed him to the Thicket, he wouldn't be going to another herd he may not want to be at.
But he would see this out and see what the mares of the Peak wanted from him. Maybe they would wait before judging him with the other bachelors. He hadn't stolen any mares or forced anyone. He didn't have any children running around the islands and he didn't hurt anyone on in the war. He didn't believe in most of the things the other bachelors did but he joined them to take a break from herd life when he first came to the islands. That came with a promise so when Cullen called for war, Collision answered out of that promise. If nothing else, he was loyal, but Argento had put some thoughts in his head before he went to battle. What was he fighting for? It hit him on his long swim to the Forest that he wasn't motivated to fight in this fight. So he went to look for someone who might need his help instead and that's when he ran into Kendry. He left the Forest with a new friend instead of an enemy.
Maybe if he explained his situation, the mares of the Peak would allow him to go find Shenzi. He had to know she was safe, wherever she was. Then if the mares wanted to keep him here as a captive, he would cooperate.
