not everything is dark

Kieron
not everything is dark

Kieron trotted around the land he had claimed as home. after what seemed an eternity, he was ready to start anew. after what he had been through, trust wasn't an easy thing for him. it wasn't like he hated everyone, and it wasn't necessarily trust with anyone in general. after laying next to his beloved, and watching her take her last breaths of live, he had literally died inside. his whole herd had been infected with the virus that had taken her life. and he felt responsible for it.

He could picture it, vivid, playing like a movie before him. a love horror story that you couldn't tear yourself away. he had been away on business, protecting his very herd against his arch nemesis, and in defeating him, had come home to find his herd either dead, or drying, and his beloved mare taking her last breaths. it had pained him so, that he had become hurt, withdrawn, and angered. going on a spree of violence whenever the circumstances were there.

But now there was hope. even if it was just a spark. he had been able to come to terms and accept that she was never coming back. and he accepted that if he hadn't been fighting to protect them, he would probably have received the same fate. so why the gods had decided to spare him.... he would still like to know.

Though the forest wasn't all to welcoming, he felt that with the right touch, to those who resided here, they would feel safe, and to those outsiders looking in, maybe the outward appearance would be enough of a second thought to enter. but one could only hope. and at this point in kieron's life, that was all he was hanging onto. and the dreams of one day being able to raise another kingdom that he had once built before.

As he continued in his thoughts, he wandered around aimlessly, no specific location in mind. he didn't believe there were any inhabitants living here, as it seemed pretty desolate. but he could be wrong and so on the back burner kept an eye out for any living form of life that still breathed in oxygen.
