Serenity

Time lingered on and soon the couple became a group and the group kept growing. She recognized the children from her time with Vivianna. They had grown up quite nicely and she enjoyed seeing them again, even if their last meeting hadn’t gone quite so well. Even then and now Serenity watches the children with a weird sort of fascination. She’s never had children of her own and her family had always kept the children separate from the yearlings and so on and so forth. She wasn’t even aware there were stallions older than her parents until they decided to ‘marry’ her off. Then she realized they got crazy old.

The foals were beautiful and she wanted to be closer to them, but one of them seemed quite cranky. It was because of the cranky one she stayed where she was, fighting the urge the whole time to get closer. They intrigued her and she wanted to know more about them. They were beautiful and she thought they were so delightful. The pair was sweet (aside from the cranky one but we all have our days) and she wondered who they were. She didn’t see another female around and assumed that they were perhaps orphans. She does remember the gathering before and she does remember Vivianna speaking in low tones, but Serenity had not caught any of it and has no idea that they were indeed orphans.

Soon there is another mare. This one is a stranger, one that the appaloosa colored mare has never seen before. Serenity tilts her head gently to watch the other one with interest. She is enjoying their little group. There were so many new faces and it just made her heart beat so happily. Aside from the children, this was a stranger. She recalls meeting the mare in passing but nothing more than that. She offers the new visitor and the children a delightful smile. “Hi! I’m Serenity!” Her tones are bright and cheery and there is no hint of the sadness and disappointment she had felt inside herself. Now there were new faces and new faces meant new friends, possibly anyway.

Serenity did not forget about Verci trying to soothe her and she turns her face to him once again and gives him her warmest smile. She gives him a playful nudge on the shoulder as if to say thank you and lets him have his space. She wasn’t the only one here to see him. No, these children and the other mare were here for him as well. She was more than happy to back off and give them their space and had intended to do just that until she saw OWL. Her eyes light up and she prances in place. She is about to take off and meet her new friend when Verci speaks to her and she gives him her brightest and friendliest smile.

“Of course I am! She appeared in the forest shortly after me and helped me feel better when I was being all glum about being a failure. Not that I, I mean….” Her words are open and friendly and when she realizes she’s rambling she shuts up pretty quickly. I really need to stop doing that. she tells herself firmly. She was raised to blame herself for everything and she’s slowly learning that not everything is her fault.

Then suddenly she emits a friendly whinny out towards Owl, as if to welcome her to the group and urging her to come closer. Ears are pushed forward in great interest but she doesn’t push the issue. She knows that Owl is the shy type and doesn’t want to push her into an uncomfortable situation; although if her new found friend didn’t come to her she’d make it a point to go to her.

{I am so sorry that it's all over the place. It's really hard to get her to sit still for long >.<}
