Washed Away

Nimbus

The sea took Nimbus in with open arms and broke him with crashing waves. This was his first encounter with the water. Nimbus did well under pressure, though, and this was quite literally a sink or swim scenario. He swam. After fumbling through the water he discovered how to push through it, and quite well after some practice. He enjoyed the way that the waves would never rest. Nimbus now had an enemy that would never stop. It amused him trying to outshine the significant foe.

He paddled onward. Soon, he came to see a sandy shore. The dunes. He recognized them, but he did not appreciate them. He still had some distance to swim and the new muscles that he used for the activity were both numb and sore. He lost himself in the ethereal feeling. Before Nimbus understoond what was happening the waves spat him out onto the shore. His muscles were pressed into the sand, and as he stumbled up he was reminded of Amour and Kahawa. Did they follow him here?

His concern rapidly faded. Nimbus worked his way to his feat and looked up. Before him laid, not the soft piles of sand that he expected, but massive hills of sand with steep slopes stretching into the sky. He could not see over the massive dune that sat temptingly before him. On its slope were patches of grasses and trees that speckled it, all of which were greening with the start of spring.

Nimbus wanted so desperately to climb the dunes, but he could not do that to the red roans. He could not make them swim here only to chase him up the impressive slope. Instead, he found a nice patch of grass on the flatter beach and filled his hungry stomach. He kept his ears scanning the area and let his muscles and his eyes rest.
