Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

They're Catching Onto Us

They said we'd burn so bright.
We burn this city and go.

Paradiso wasn't sure what drew him back to the Lost Islands. For the span of several months, the young stallion had enjoyed galavanting from island to island and eventually to the mainland, exploring new and diverse terrains and meeting a few new horses along the way. The usually meek and nervous stallion had grown tenfold during this time. While Paradiso was still cautious and calculated, and very much an over thinker on the inside, he'd shown more bravery in recent months than ever before in his short lifetime. He'd successfully defended himself against predators when he brashly came upon them along the mountainous paths on Tinuvel. He survived a bout of colic that came after ingesting a poisonous, exotic plant on Atlantis. And all the while the stallion kept growing, taller and thicker as he morphed from stringy yearling to robust young stallion. His muscles rippled underneath his sleek spotted hide from the weeks he spent galloping and climbing and swimming. Paradiso was coming into his own.

But he would be lying if he said he didn't miss the family he'd left behind on Luthien. His last conversation with his brother, Shamwari, was terse and on edge. So much had been going on at the time, and Paradiso still felt a pang of guilt for the way he had blamed his brother for the shortcomings of their mother and a now-dead brother. But striking out on his own, with no help from any of his family members, was the best thing Paradiso had ever done for himself.

Crystal blue eyes surveyed the familiar trail under the canopy of tall oaks and pines which led him away from the meadow and down a low slope. The young stallion had never been the Lagoon before, but knew of its existence, thanks to his brothers and mother. Nothing good ever came from the lagoon, he recalls Shamwari telling him. But Paradiso felt as if he was old enough to see the place for himself and make that kind of judgment. He was angry, still fuming when he thought about what had happened to his mother here. He was still angry with his brother about it, despite the guilt that haunted him. And he was angry with himself, perhaps most significantly, because he had done nothing about it.

His nostrils flared as he searched for the scent of other stallions here. Most seemed faint and stale.
