my mind's like a deadly disease

Every part of the giant’s body thrummed with energy, drawing from all the excitement of the previous few days. Returning, reclaiming his homeland and now having company to protect and care for. If there was anything you could say the brute was good at, it was protecting and defending. It was an undying loyalty. Outside of that, he harbored many flaws. The distinct flare of aner that always seemed to be in waiting, kindling inside his belly until awakened by a snide comment or any slight attack. Factor in his strong belief that love was weakness and what most would see if a very confusing picture of a man. After all, how can someone so family-devoted not love?

Auds twitched as he listened to the twins, wishing there was a way to help them warm quicker but also knowing they would soon adjust. Summer provided the perfect opportunity, as it was still a milder cold than the harsh, wind lashing, snow laden winters that the tinuvel suffered. Dora’s excitement seemed to confirm this, and so the tobiano stallion offered them a warm smile.

”Of course, I would love to show you around.”

Orkaan lifted his crown proudly. It was not the Cove, but he hoped that the two sisters could soon say that the Inlet was truly home. Motioning for them to follow he began by leading them toward what he might call a ‘safe haven’.

”This cave may be your best option for shelter if the cold is ever too much. During the winters I expect this is where the herd will primarily stay. It blocks out some of the bite of the wind and snow.”

Memories of his time spent in the cave flooded over him as he paused to let them look around a little before moving on. ’Orkaan, do not go out there,’ his mother cautioned him as he pranced near the edge of the save, little more than four months old at the time. The colt rolled his fiery eyes, sticking one hoof outside their shelter as if to taunt the black mare. ‘Orkaan!’ She screeched at him, her eyes wild. Surprised, the boy jumped back inside and nearly crashed his hindquarters against the wall, murmuring something in dutch beneath his breath. ‘There are wolves about boy, keep your head on your shoulders of you will not make it past winter.’ Shaking his coat, as if to rid himself of snow he then led them to a small channel of water. One of the many streams he’d come across but definitely the largest.

”This area can be dangerous if you are not on alert. It is Stroom van de wolven, Stream of the wolves. Every so often they make their home among Tinuvel and this is where they most often get their water.”

Round eyes looked seriously at the two mares now under his care. He was, by all means, controlling if you factored in safety. Orkaan moved to gently touch Dora’s neck but stopped midway as he remembered her reaction and comment before. Instead he glanced over his shoulder at the stream and then back to Phi.

If you EVER hear a howl I need to know. It is my fight and I will not tolerate them hunting my family.”
