The strange way of the world

Requiem was finding he wasn't very good at being a leader even though he has been conditioned for it since Warsaw took him home. He was still young so he assumed that was all it was, but right now no-one cared who he was or where he was from. Warsaw, on the other hand, was having visitors a lot lately and he had a handful of now pregnant mares. Requiem was the son cast aside to do this important task that was now being forgotten about. His father has not come to see him once since he sent him here.

He jumps at the chance of something interesting like investigating a scent. This could lead to something big like a member to his lonely herd or catching a spy at work. Warsaw would be proud and possibly take time from his mare collecting or his island duties to spend time with his son. He couldn't let the mare just leave without an explanation. That was what a leader would do right? He watches the frame of the young mare he was cornered between himself and the ocean. Naturally, she gets defensive.

He could see her ears lay back and hear that unfamiliar sound of her hooves scraping across the wet earth below. No one had ever warned him like this before. A wiser, older King, might have scolded her for such a warning on their homeland, but not Requiem. He was actually unsure what to do. A part of him said to just let her go on, but the other part was too curious. He steps forward with a smile on his cream-colored lips. "I won't hurt you."

He couldn't imagine what a mare must feel in a world like this. Did she think he was a monster coming to snatch her up and keep her for childbearing? Did she think he would fight her? Requiem was curious to know all the answers Warsaw had never given him. His father always said it didn't matter what she thought as long as you got what you needed.
