bring me back to life...

She didn't know anything really about either stallion, and yet she had connected with both in strange and different ways. With Ruger, she felt safe and in her heart, she knew that he meant her no harm. She didn't know about his past but something in his eyes haunted her and she found herself wanting to console him in some way, though she had no idea how or why. It was like he reacted on instinct sometimes, like he was raised up that way, but then she swore she saw something like regret in his eyes after. She found herself more curious of him than afraid. With Requiem, she felt like they were on the same level socialization-wise. He wasn't as confident as other stallions, so maybe that's why she didn't feel such a strong fear factor with him. He came off as almost innocent, safe. She felt like maybe he could help her get over her fear of other stallions.

She ventured further toward the falls, almost thinking of stopping by that cave Ruger had told her about the last time she was here. She'd hid in that cave all night but when morning came, he was gone and she'd felt empty and abandoned. He had no obligation to stay with her and yet when she could see a sliver of him through the waterfall, she'd somehow known that nothing and no one would bother her with him near. The dawn was new in the air as she moved toward the pool of water where the falls and the cave was. But she froze solid when she saw the painted stallion standing there, still as a statue. It took her staring at him for a few moments before she could even figure out if he was breathing or not. He was so still. In a way, it was mesmerizing, the way the sunlight hit his spots and reflected off the white of his coat.

Her heart was in her throat as she considered her options. On the one hand, there was hope. Hadn't she come here hoping to see him? On the other hand, what if it was a mistake? What if he was angry that she was taken and he took it out on her? Some part of her wanted to believe that he wasn't like that, but her past experiences battled in her mind. She stomped the ground with a fore hoof in her own uncertainty, a soft rattling snort leaving her nostrils as she lowered her head to the ground for a moment, but her gaze and her ears never left the stallion. He still didn't move, so finally she got up the courage to step toward him. Swishing her tail, she let out a soft exhale. "Ruger..." She let her voice trail out to him soft and uncertain.
