When the restless energy set in, Galahad felt the urge to hit the water and swim toward the Crossing, but the winds kicked up and the waves pushed him toward another island instead. He tried fighting the water but it was no use. Finally, he just had to keep his head above the water as it tossed him toward the sand. He could always figure out where he was and get back home after, or maybe just head to the Crossing like he'd originally planned. The young stallion was growing agitated, wanting to do something more than spend his days relaxing in the Cove and watching over his little sister, Nicaule. He wanted to meet other stallions and mares his age and make some friends. He wanted to figure out what he could do with the rest of his life.
As he shook out his coat and walked further inland, he could only see golden sands as far as the eye could see. Where the heck was he? His nostrils flared as he tasted the air but he didn't recognize it. His eyes widened for a moment as he thought about the island his mother had told him about, the island she used to live on before she went to live with Solomon. Salem. Could that be where he was? He remembered his mother and older sister, Raptor, always told him about the sand dunes and palm trees. His surroundings seemed to match. Excitement made his skin shiver as he moved on, wondering who he might come across. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all!
The first form he came across was a young mare about his own age, maybe a little older. Tossing his head, the black stallion gave a friendly whinny as he trotted toward her.
"Hi, there! My name is Galahad, son of Bahadir and Golden Illusion. I come from the Cove. Can you tell me if I'm on Salem?"
