GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
I do believe it's time for another adventure; open

if we were meant to stay in one place,
we'd have roots instead of feet.

The painted mare roused only slightly as the storm deepened, her pretty eyes flicking open and then fluttering shut once more. She'd seen plenty of storms over her years, both in the Cove and here, in the Prairie, and she had never truly had cause to fear them. Especially not tucked into the small grove of trees near the border as she was, protected from the worst of the weather.

Or so she thought, anyway. The tenor of the wind changed, going from incessant chatter to a deep howl that reverberated through the trees. She frowned and allowed herself to raise her head in alarm, blinking the sleep from her eyes just as hail began to rain down from the heavens above. "Hael? Where ar-" Aurelie nickered in alarm, attempting to call for her grown daughter, and began to hastily rise to her hooves, although she did not move fast enough to stop the hail from knocking a branch down onto her head. The branch broke against her poll and left her dazed, pushing her down to her knees while the odd hailstone managed to pelt her rump and back.

"Lohan!" She called out, her voice throaty and the name half garbled as she scrambled to try and find her feet. Both of her children were well past the age of needing her in any real capacity, but that didn't stop her from worrying about them first. A roar began to pick up around her, although she could not differentiate it from the roaring in her head at first. It wasn't until she felt the wind suddenly die out and then pick back up that she realized it was not normal and went haphazardly racing out of the trees to stare in horror at the swirling mass of wind and dust reaching down from the sky.
