meet me there where it's never hopeless » escape Posted on January 19, 2025 at 05:17:52 AM by Emerson
It was nearly full-dark when the dark-painted mare skulked forward from the last dredges of the Lagoon's treeline. A child -- a filly a mere few seasons old -- crept forward after the mare quietly, as she had been instructed. Emerson paused as much as she dared to allow her blue dun daughter to catch up with her near-frantic pace.
Emerson had already forced herself to wait longer to attempt an escape. Saphris had needed time to find her feet, and the tovero mare had needed time to survey the borderlands and any patrols properly the bachelors might have set up. With Leif's decreasing attentions in recent months, the Mustang had had surprisingly ample time to watch the shifting men.
The storm that had been threatening to break all day finally loosed a torrent on the Lagoon as the sun descended. Thus, it provided a cover for the painted pair to break for the Meadow. Emerson wanted desperately to reunite with her brother Martyr, but she dared not risk getting her hopes up until the land of her imprisonment lay far behind.
