Why is that stupid? I do remember when I was in radio that we didn't really think public radio and tv was 'real broadcasting' so weren't part of the social club. I always thought that was was very insulting to them. No one gave a second thought about military broadcasting, scattered all over the world, including hardship assignments. American Forces Radio & Television Service (AFRTS). I shudder to think how few are left in Asia and Europe today.
You should be damned concerned about everything Trump's doing, given theres nothing that can be done to stop him. Republicans won't and Trump owns the military.
Now the poor and hispanics are totally at his mercy. What if he decides to confiscate both the AM and FM bands to shut off potential opposition? Yes, it could happen. All over the world, after the military, the media are the second to go in a regime like this one.
Dunno who played Walter Cronkite today since no one takes roll in here. So depends on if its the usual suspect or someone who just looks down on a segment of the industry. Personally I think more of the public radio/TV that commercial which turned itself into music machines with little creativity or service in the public interest. The worst thing the media has done is gotten rid of news which was the only thing radio ever did that was in the public interest. And it disappeared very suddenly when Reagan gutted FCC requirements to use the frequencies. So what good is radio and TV other than being a vast wasteland. I'm sure those in TV were shocked and offended when FCC chairman said that back in the era of early situation comedies.
It seemed somewhat harmless until Trump gave us an inkling how bad things could become without an aggressive media and for ten years they've pretty much sat on their hands. At least TV protects us in real time when the weather attacks us.
When the shit hits the fan, America finds the nearest TV set, and that's the fault of radio's corporate bosses, and you know what I think of THEM!
Most of the complainining on Gateway, besides me is directed towards them. But you know who just ignores them and focuses his frustration on me.
Typical...trash the messenger. Rush started it calling everyone but Fox and political radio, Lamestream media.
I'd urge you to be alarmed about the deliberate demise of public radio and TV and not scoff at it. Radio's not especially creative anymore, just playing music to fill time between commercials!
Maybe Trump will just ignore music radio, thinking its not a threat and if it becomes one, His Gestapo can just come to your studio and cut your power source. What will you do then? Replies:
