Aindreas’ frame tensed as the wind brought the scent of another lupine to him. He kept his head respectfully lowered, but narrowed his eyelids in distrust. When, into his vision, leapt a creamy fae. She was not silent in her approach, and he relaxed his muscles, sensing no danger from this young lupine. In his mind’s eye, a memory flicked back to when he had first approached Munashii Gekko’s borders year ago, much in the way that she now approached. Carefree and happy. He shook his head to get rid of the memory, his white coat shimmering in the little amount of light that slipped through the woods.
His blue orbs locked upon the fae, when all of a sudden she disappeared from his view. A few seconds later, she appeared right next to Aindreas, having snuck behind the trees that were near to Aindreas. Having let his guard down because of her appearance, she took him by surprise. He immediately dropped his form lower to the ground, slightly raised his hackles, and raised his lip a little bit, not knowing what to expect. It had been a long time since anyone had snuck up on him, and the surprise had, in a sense, knocked him off of his paws. Sense rushed back into his head a few quick moments later, and he lowered both his hackles and his lip, in addition to having the sense to slip the tip of his plume between his legs in apology. Aindreas was unsure of the fae’s ranking, but he regretted showing such disrespect to any member of the pack he was trying to join.
His ears swiveled forward as the fae’s silky voice flowed from her maw. She introduced herself as Kobato, and then asked for his named. Aindreas blinked a few times, his frame raising to his normal tall height, relaxation seeping into his muscles. His name? Aindreas tried to think of his name, of how to speak. He was so used to the silence of his solidarity. He tried to think of the last time had even spoken. His name? He turned his name to the side, trying to think. His name? His gaze drifted back up to the fae. She was smiling gently, and her plume was wagging. She emitted happiness from her, and all Aindreas wanted was to remember his name so he could tell her.
He realized that he had not seen a fae in well over a year. He saw the occasional loner brute, but a fae? It had been a long while since he had seen one, let alone one that as beautiful as this one was. A spark in his memory brought an image of when Kalgalath had found him and also asked for his name and he had responded. Aindreas, that was his name.
“My name is…” His voice faltered. It was scratchy from the lack of use. He coughed once, and then swallowed, trying to clear it. “My name is Aindreas”
