The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

Mae felt bad for startling Terrel, alongside a bit of embarrassment for running into him in the first place, but she was glad it was him and not a stranger. She had no idea who lurked about the cavern, but she doubted friendly wolves stuck around the place for very long. Still, she thought after shuffling closer to him from fear of the unknown in the darkness, at least they were now out of the rain. Her tail was tucked beneath her, pelt soaked through. She could make out his coat in the dim light, it darkened just as hers was, and couldn’t help but let out a slightly shaky laugh. “We look ridiculous,” she let out, jolting again as her voice echoed. Her ears were plastered against her head, eyes wide. The rain was pelting down just a few metres away and the sound of it continued to unnerve her despite the fact that they were now in shelter.

She questioned what might be deeper in the cave and he responded with a laugh about the possibility of a monster lurking there, waiting to eat femmes who walked in too far. Her eyes widened partly with nerves, but the small smirk showed that she realised he was teasing. “Perhaps any monsters in the cave favour the taste of males instead,” she grinned, nudging his shoulder with hers and glancing around suspiciously. She was relieved when they agreed to walk further into the cave, glad to get away from the rain. Sending a nervous glance at the entrance where water was falling in a steady curtain, before turning to join him. They trekked a short way in, further from the rain but closer to the enveloping darkness. She couldn’t decide whether she’d rather risk going back outside or not. At least she was calmed by the presence of the male beside her.

They sat, Mae listening to the sound of Terrel’s tail against the rock and wondering what he could be thinking of. The atmosphere was pleasant, well…pleasant enough for a pair of soaked through wolves stuck in a dark, unknown cave. The forest was such a mysterious place and she guessed there was more to discover, having only been in it for a short time. It was so much more interesting than her home lands. She glanced at the brown pelted male, curious about what was running through his mind. As he began to speak again, her ears twitched to hear what he was saying. “Yeah…creepy but intriguing.” That about summed up the cavern, but she wondered why he wouldn’t want to return. “You wouldn’t come back…why not?” her head tilted to the left, eyes watching him curiously, thinking it couldn’t hurt to ask even if he chose not to answer.

“Hmmm,” she glanced around as she thought, “I might be persuaded to return, to find out where the cavern leads…but never on my own.” She shuddered at the thought of venturing through the tunnel alone, getting lost if it branched into sections and never finding your way out. The thought scared her. No, she’d never venture far into the cavern if she was on her own. In fact, it was probably only the fact that the rain was falling that convinced her to head inside in the first place. Her ears flickered back as he asked whether she’d like to go on, and she looked into the darkness ahead. “…Perhaps we should stay here…” she didn’t want to seem cowardly to him, but wanted to calm her nerves before heading on, “…at least, maybe just for a little bit.”
