aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

A familiar scent drifted its way to Kalgalath’s nares, waking him from the nap that he took under one of the many coniferous trees that lay in the terra. Even in his drowsy state, he would know that scent anywhere – it was of the few who he called a true friend, Leila. Though he had not known her for nearly as long as he had known King Kong, having met her only recently at Staircase Falls, he felt like he had known her for ages. The fae was so easy to talk to and he had felt so comfortable in his presence. She was a playful, flirtatious fae, and had sent many a compliment in his direction over the course of their dialogue. However, the one time he had complimented her, she had withdrawn from her extrovert self and had gone quiet, her only response a simple ‘thank you’. Before they had parted ways, the fae had promised to come to Aurora Borealis for a visit, and he had in turn promised to give her a tour. He had never thought that she would arrive so soon – it hadn’t seemed that she was ready for pack life just yet. Perhaps she just wanted to see the terra, or had been touring all of the terras to see which one she wanted to join. Whatever her reasoning in travelling to the pack borders, it mattered not. What mattered was that she had came.

The brute raised his weight off of the ground and leaned back toward his haunches, stretching out his spine, his front claws fully extending in the blissful stretch. He closed his lids, protecting his blue orbs as he passed through the sharp needs on the fir’s branch. He passed through slowly, allowing the sharp needles to itch his skin through his thick coat, but once he was through, a smile planted itself upon his maw. His haunches powered him forward, his muscles rippling as his long stride quickly brought him through his terra. He had come to know it better now, and briefly he allowed his orbs to close and he inhaled deeply, enjoying Leila’s scent intertwined with the scent of the firs on the breeze.

As he neared the boundary, his audettes picked up the sound of a giggle coming from beyond the boundary. And then came her soprano song, asking for his presence. The brute paused – the song spoke of wanting to belong. Could it be that Leila wanted to belong to a pack? Could it be that she wanted to make her niche in Aurora Borealis? A grin became apparent upon his maw, and he travelled forward once more, though this time more slowly. Though he knew her, he knew it was only proper to act the part of his position. And so it was that he stalked his way through the remaining firs, his plume coming to curl over his dorsal. As he emerged from the firs, the brute’s chest puffed out, his body tense and erect. A small smile lay upon his kissers when the fae came into his line of sight. A small layer of frost covered her pelt as she lay on the ground. “Welcome to my terra, Leila. I didn’t think I would see you so soon, although I will admit that I am gladdened indeed by your presence.” His deep voice resounded from his maw and across the boundary, and it almost shocked him. It was as if the position of Alpha had increased his pride and confidence. The brute’s icy gaze locked onto the fae’s, and he awaited her response.
