Tar every wolf with the same brush? Well, at least they had settled the fact that her words were slightly judgemental. She could judge Aerten all she liked as far as the russet ess was concerned. She did what she had to do to survive, and that was that. Surely Dib had some shred of instinct deep in her that reminded her that sometimes you had to save your own ass, no matter the price?
"This isn't a guard drop, trust me."
The lyrics were once more sarcastic, emphasized on the 'trust me'. Sarcastic, but true. Aerten was content to give Dib only a glance into her mind, nothing more. She purely was amused as she watched the teen process everything with that face she could read like an open book. Dib was quite interesting, she could say that much, though she seriously doubted the younger femme would ever be anything more than a vocal sparring partner. Or, if an unfortunate situation arose, an enemy with a little too much knowledge. The thought was enough to set the femme's inner defences off: She didn't want to give Dib anything that could be used against her later.
Suddenly, the femme fatale went rigid. Family. Oh nonono. Surely the teen did not just...But she had and just for the slightest of a second, the Abentrot assassin went into fully fledged panic.
Breathing deep, she allowed the stoic mask to slip back over her features, leaving no hint of her momentary distress.
"Dead."
That was all she said, not even bothering to elaborate. It was true though; her mother and father had died when she was quite young and her sister...Well, Aerten had left the girl to what was most likely death. No need to let her know that however, especially when she was playing the typical 'good cop, bad cop'.
Biting back yet another rise of rage at Dib's almost...intrusiveness, she decided to give the teen a taste of her own medicine.
"So, Dib, since you brought it up...What about you? Family in Saw Tooth? You must have leant your more...interesting tendencies somewhere."
Quite rude, yes, but surely the Saw Tooth ess had seen that coming. Let her pick up the idea that she was touching on a forbidden topic. Hopefully it would let her know that future inquires about...family would not be appreciated.
She glanced at the ground bitterly for a moment before turning back, a new fire raging in her eyes. Oh, it was on now.
