The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

A growl escaped from the brute’s maw as the ceiling of the cavern dipped to its lowest. Being a smaller fae, Athene had been comfortably been able to crawl through. However, as she glanced backward, her honey orbs seeing the entirety of the cavern swallowing up the brute’s blackened form. Still, he managed to fit through. The brute’s relief as the ceiling heightened itself was obvious – he stretched out his spinal cord, which quickly crackled. A set of crackles alerted the fae that the brute had done as she had – released his talons from their sheaths in order to have better friction on the slippery slope of the floor. Her honeyed orbs made their way to fall upon the brute, but then transferred where they were transfixed upon when he gestured to a small hole in the cavern’s siding. That must be where the light is coming from. Athene merely nodded, enjoying the sunlight that came through, though it was dimmed by the amount it had to fight to reach the pair of the lupines.

She stayed motionless, only her sweet gaze following the brute as he moved toward the center of the cavern down the slippery steep slope. As he neared the center, she watched as he lowered his nares. She was overly curious about what is was that he found, but she didn’t have to wait for long. There is ash down here. I wonder why when this place is underground. As he moved around throughout the cavern, the brute seemed to find more piles of ash. Over here, as well. Maybe there was a fire down here. The hole above us could have provided air for it, but I am not entirely sure if that hole would provide enough air for a fire to live and thrive. And, there is nothing down ehre to burn or anything that would remain. Athene propelled herself toward the brute and rolled in one of the small piles of ash. Though the substance burned her cut, the ash acted as a coagulant, ceasing the blood flow, no matter how minimal it was. The sting lasted but a moment, and she turned her attention back to the brute.

He finally returned to her, reporting his findings. This must be a dead end. I wonder why… Anyway, come down here so you can see the ash as well. Though she had visited one of the smaller ash piles, she nonetheless followed the brute to the center, but as they reached the center, the soft sound of a raindrop rang out like thunder in her auds. And then there was another drop, and another. Wonderful it’s raining. The fae glanced upward, watching as water and then clumps of mud began to drop from the ceiling. She stood motionless, in awe of the act of nature that she was observing, and was only shaken from it by the brute’s words and push. Athene, move! Her haunches went into motion, her claws digging at the soft earth as she scrambled up the steep embankment. The rain turned into a cascade, and the ground soon was more similar to the shallow end of a lake than the hard ground of a cavern. Athene! It’s going to flood!

The fae quickly made her way to the only exit of the cavern, but turned to the brute, rhyme finding no position in her speech. “Hurry, Zev, you must go first. I can scramble through with ease. You must go, now!
