At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The trees started to thin out, and the brute walked forward towards the water. He gazed down into it, his icy gaze filtering the warmth from the water. It licked up against the edge of the rock, creating a wonderful sound of water bathing against itself. The brute peered back to Athene, already watching her getting into the shallower part of the falls. Looking away, he started his own journey into the brisk liquid, paws retreating pack to his torso as they got colder. Soon, the water lapped at his wound, and it felt cold against his skin. He sat slowly, trying to ease the pain the water brought. The titan heaves a sigh, and he sat in the liquid as it cleaned his wounds. “You know a little about healing I hope?” He watched her until she gave him the slight nod, only visible if any were looking at it. The brute smiled a little as she walked away, and a cold breeze swam through the wet fur on his pelt, sending a sharp shiver up his spine. Zev looked to Athene, examining her flank in the light that had been absent so long ago in the tunnels. It was a nice creamy white color, reflecting in the water with a shine. Starting from her back, thick black stripes sent their way down to her banner and paws, all the while sitting top the cream. He nodded.

Soon the fae’s gaze returned to his, and he raised an eyebrow in question. He raised himself from the water as she told him too, shaking his pelt at a reasonable distance, and went to join her. Her muzzle dipped down to the ground and pushed small little black seeds his direction. Or maybe they were a chocolate brown? “Eat.” He sniffed the seeds, scenting a tangy smell that also smelled earthy and of the dirt. He licked them up slowly, tasting the herby grass as he did so. The titan tried to chew them, but soon they got lost among is ivories, so he swallowed to send them down his gullet. He lifted his back foot off the ground before laying down in the grass. He didn’t think about anywhere to put his tail, so gut left it adjacent from his body. A small bug zipped slowly over his head, spiraling up into the treetops to feed on smaller insects and bark. “Thank you.” The bottom of his chin still was numb from the gesture Athene had given him in the cave. If he wasn’t in the presence of another wolf, he would have growled, but the brute stayed silent and clenched his teeth together. He refused to think of that act of something that it wasn’t, and either way he wasn’t sure what kind of brush it was. Looking back to the falls, he banished the thought from his mind.

The brute saw a hint of golden in the water, and he saw a small fish swim downstream. He smiled, and watched them swim past him and continuing their journey to their destination. He flicked his banner once and curled it over his one good foot, not wanting to get it caked in blood.
