Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Before she knew what was actually happening, Gaia found herself in grave danger. The wolf she had been watching stopped suddenly and let a deep, menacing growl escape from his throat. Gaia had never heard a noise like this before and she felt the fur along her spine rise in response. What had made the boy so angry? Did he stub is paw? Was he hungry? Why... In the blink of an eye he was charging towards the rock and the smaller pup didn't even have time to yelp before his large form was on top of her, pinning her on her back and exposing her soft spots. Fear gripped her heart as she gazed with wide eyes at the fangs that were only a few inches away from her throat and she knew, right then and there, what it was that her father had warned her about.

There were dangers in the world and Gaia had managed to find one of the most deadly on her first adventure away from the den. Had she not been clutched within the cruel hands of fear, Gaia would have called out for help. The den wasn't too far away and her parents surely would have heard the frantic yelps of their child. Iblis would have come swooping in like a falcon to take the pup off his child and Rhae would have dove in to take her away to safety. But no call sounded. For a moment there was nothing save for the wild thumping of Gaia's heart and ragged growls of the boy.

Then, just as quickly as he had pounced on her, the boy was off of her and had moved a few steps away. Gaia had noticed the look of confusion in his eyes before he removed himself and she could only respond with a confused look over her own. She stood up and took a few steps back, wincing a little as her back legs ached from the weight of the male. Silence stretched out between them as they both tried to figure out what happened and it seemed that the female was the first to recover. The confusion she felt quickly turned to anger and she let her own little growl echo from her chest as she took a few steps towards the boy. "Are you crazy? Why did you scare me like that?" she challenged.

Suddenly, he started to cough. It wasn't a normal cough like she would get when something was stuck in her throat. This sound was harsh and came from deep within his lungs. It was a horrible sound and Gaia wanted him to stop! She almost told him so, almost barked at him in a cruel way, but something told her that would not be wise. Whoever this boy was, he did not like the fact that he was making these sounds. His frustrated growls made that very clear. Taking a few steps back, Gaia waited for the fit to end and her eyes met his. Her gaze held as she refused to look away. Finally, unable to stand the silence between them, she cocked her head to the side and asked, "Are you okay now? Well, it serves you right for doing that. What is wrong with you, anyways? I didn't do anything to you to make you attack me like that, you jerk!" Gaia didn't see the coughing as a weakness. She saw a huge wolf who still had some growing to do and in her mind he looked healthy and normal. His coughing wasn't going to spare him a severe tongue lashing.
