Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

I lick my chops as I finish off my meal. I managed to come across this lucky lady earlier on this week and we spent the better half of four days enjoying each other's company. She thought I was courting her and I put all my charm into the project, taking her out on romantic outings to the lake and rivers and out hunting every night. I let her eat most of what we killed since my appetite wasn't into the meat of herbivores but I ate just enough to keep her suspicions down, even if my stomach was gurgling by the end of every meal. I grew hungrier by the day but still I bided my time, waiting for the right moment. Usually this only lasts a day or so but this time, I wanted to push my limits and see how far I could go. Maybe I'm getting a bit lonely as the years go by, who knows, but either way, it as enjoyable in its own way. It's not like she was bad company.

By the end of the week, she was practically dancing on her toes, waiting for me to ask the official question. As we got deeper into winter, I could tell she was getting antsy so we finally did the deed and I knew she was hoping she'd be pregnant. Of course by the end of the week, it would be way too soon to tell but I'll never know now cause she's dead on the ground beneath my paws, her blood soaking into the melting snow as I drain her life away. She was good company, don't get me wrong, but I like my meals fresh and she was there for the taking.

At the smell of fresh blood and other wolves, I let my curiosity pull me forward. A herd of elk is nearby, the dust is still in the air from their running hooves. I see at least five other wolves, some running after the elk and attacking and others enjoying a meal of their own. I decide to watch from a distance for now, bright blues penetrating through the darkness to the wolves beyond.
