The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The mountains were suffocating her. Cinder was sure of it. They had found a den in the foothills and she had bravely tried to explore the upper regions of the mountains, assuming by doing so that she would grow to feel more comfortable in her new home. Yet she found that she hated it all the more. Yet it was where her half brother lived and where her sister lived and they were all she had left. Nothing was fair in her life. Her mother had left them early on and Cinder, a pup, had had to learn how to take care of herself and a deaf sister. Sciathan had showed up when he had figured out Snowshoe had left them alone and he had helped take care of them, easing the burden from Cinder's dark shoulders, yet the burning resentment festered into a thing all its own.

The moment dawn broke the skyline Cinder had bolted from the foothills of Spirane, leaping across broken rocks that had slid from the mountainside years past and diving through bare trees for the forest. She had fled the confines of the mountains with her heart pounding and her fur on edge, a low growl occasionally ripping from her throat as she flat out ran across Molodian. She pushed herself until her body ached and her lungs burned and she felt faint from the lack of oxygen, as if the peaks reached out still to grab her and strangle.

She climbs up, up, up the side of a small incline that led to the top of the grotto; the caves burrowed underneath and occasionally, if one wasn't careful, there would be a fissure on the top where it gave way to the cave beneath. One could easily fall to their death here. She had ran so far and her body trembled as she came to a standstill atop the grotto, her steel blue eyes bleary as they catch a distant sight of Glorall and the sea. Oh the sea! It peeks through out through trees and she stands with her legs spread apart and head low as her jaws open to suck in lungfuls of air.

Again she quivers, this time as relief floods her and the salty stench of the sea wafts out past Glorall and into her nostrils. Home. That was home, but it wasn't anymore. Even that had been taken from her.
